* John Edward Oliver was born in Lorain, Ohio on 26 December, 1962. * He graduated in 1981 from Boyd Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, FL. * He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving nine (9) years active duty and continued serving as part of the Marine Corps Reserve, achieving the rank of SSGT. * John's nickname was "Oli". * He served from Apr 1983 to Dec 1983 in Beirut, Lebanon while on active duty. He was with both H&S Co and Charlie Co. 1/8 24th MAU. While in Beirut, his MOS was 0311, a Career Planners Assistant. John lived and worked in the All Hands Club, located in the Basement of the BLT HQ's Building. John survived the 23 Oct 1983 BLT bombing. * He served in Operation Desert Storm. * The special license plate on his car read: "BEIRUT" * John was very active in veteran's organizations, as well as being a Scout Master and worked with the Boy Scouts.
